We continue to be a purely volunteer led and operated charity, with NO paid staff and NO paid work. Every penny that is donated to the charity, whether it is donations from our supporters, monies raised at fundraising events or from grant funding, is used to support the NHS & Hospices in Devon with the aim of benefitting the patients.

 

Our main operational hours still remain 5pm-8am on weekday evenings, and 24 hour cover on weekends and bank holidays. However, we now also provide support to all 4 main hospitals (under 3 NHS Trusts) with agreed specific transportation journeys during normal working hours, that the paid NHS couriers cannot provide within the time specific nature of the job. We also work in partnership with NICU Blood Bikes to provide monthly Donor Breast Milk supplies to the 4 main hospitals in Devon and into the hospital in Truro, Cornwall.

 

We are the only Blood Bike charity in Devon to have signed Service Level Agreements with all 4 of the main hospitals in Exeter, Plymouth, Barnstaple & Torbay, and we are extremely proud to have become a trusted provider to them all.

 

Since November 2018, South West Blood Bikes has saved the NHS & Hospices we serve, over £500,000 in transportation costs; have completed 9469 individual jobs and have transported nearly 54,000 different consignments.
