We urgently need more volunteers to help fill various roles including Riders, Drivers, Controllers and Fundraisers, for more information see below.
Blood bikers are volunteers who use their advanced motorcycle skills to provide an ‘out of hours’ service, supporting our NHS partners. So Monday to Friday from 5 pm until 7 am the following morning. Over weekends and bank holidays, this is a 24-hour service.
Thanks to the support of good people like yourselves means that we can keep on providing our FREE services to the NHS and Hospices that we serve.

South West Blood Bikes are registered with the Fundraising Regulator.
The National Lottery Community Fund is a supporter of South West Blood Bikes.
We have been shortlisted for the Charity Governance Awards 2024.
We make no charge for our services, and not one person in the South West Blood Bikes organisation is paid for the work they do. We are crewed 100% by volunteers!
The charity started in Plymouth and still maintains a base in the city, but we now have four teams operating, with the other teams being based in Torbay, North Devon and Exeter.
This means that we are able to respond promptly to demands for our services from anywhere within the County of Devon.
Plus, our being the official Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes member for Devon (the only group in the County so accredited), we form part of a Nationwide chain of around 1,200 Blood Bikes, meaning we can quickly and efficiently move any items across the entire UK and Eire, by working in relay with our neighbouring groups to get the job done.
A new development is the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes’ work with the Civil Air Patrol, a group of volunteers who own their own private aircraft, who if we had a particularly urgent consignment we could call on to help move an item from a local airfield by air to its destination (or vice versa), further increasing our capabilities.
